It turns out the Thick Thighs Project is our most popular post on the blog, so let’s give the crowd what they want: MORE REVIEWS.
For this edition of the Thick Thighs Project we have a Coquetry Clothing leggings review. I got a little help from the team for this one as I interview Team Lis Smash athlete (aka Smasher) Nikki Thomas. She is one of Coquetry’s biggest fans and quite honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a sales rep jkjkjk she spends her own hard-earned cash on these things.
Nikki’s favorite piece from CC is the Black Star leggings “because my knee sleeves go on over them like butter but that’s like… completely random and to do with the fabric. I love the Mortal Koil ones because they are full of skulls and koi and are fun to wear. I feel like all my leggings from them are soft and nonbinding while also being (as far as I know) squat-proof.”
So here it is, the easiest interview ever…
LS: Would you send me a few quotes about why you order from Coquetry so often?
NT (15 minutes later via email):
“Things NOT about the leggings
1. It’s a small business and it’s owned BY A LADY. It’s also a small biz in the SOUTH that specializes in “custom made spandex clothing for festivals, raves, show choirs, dance, performance, drag shows, sports, and cosplay” and I feel like this is a good place to spend my dollars.
2. Returns are easy. For my pride romper I just flat ordered the wrong size and they turned my return around in record time and didn’t make it hard, and I got the replacement romper in like two days. Just stellar.
3. They’re inclusive. They will re-gram literally anyone who tags them, respond to anyone, they are always showcasing people of all flavors wearing their stuff. As I’ve said to you I am well-aware that lifters aren’t one of their primary markets but if I tag them they always comment and they’ve reposted me before, too. It’s great. Love them.
4. Custom requests are encouraged. So if you need capris or just really short leggings or you want a dragon onesie, they will figure it out.
Things about the leggings
1. Price. When they are on sale they are $20 and you cannot beat that with a stick for the quality. They are $49.99 when you’re buying them full-price but they’re also custom made, by a human being paid an actual wage, in the US, so I don’t quibble. I do look at their sale stuff to see if I like what’s on offer though. That’s how I ended up with my fave Black Star leggings.
2. Quality Spandex. These things do not pill or shrink or get messed up at all, as long as you launder them on cold and drip dry. Also the fabrics they carry are cool and fun without being like HERE IS A LOGO which I appreciate.
3. Endless customizations. You can get leggings in any fabric they stock and you can get them in shorter inseams. I did a Make Your Own, BOGO leggings and that is how I got my Wonder Woman ones in the right length.
I also love their shorts! “
Thank you Nikki so much for all of the info and details about CC. And thanks readers for checking out this Coquetry Clothing review. I love to see women supporting women, and I might be ordering from them very soon. This adorable rainbow number just popped up in my feed like WOWZA.
We’ll share more reviews soon! Vuori, Grrrl Clothing and Superfit Hero are all coming down the pipeline…
xoxo, Lis Smash
